As you’ve noticed, I don’t tend to post my favourites every months, and that’s just because I really stick to the products I like and it takes a while until something new really impresses me, but here we are with some items, that I’ve really been enjoying during April!
Let’s start with hair!
My hair is generally quite strong and long, however once every 5-6 years, especially if combined with stress, it just starts shedding like crazy. Honestly, I can totally compete with a fluffy Golden Retriever! This winter I noticed that while showering, a lot more of my hair is falling off, so I quickly remembered the recommendation that my hair stylist had given me 6 years ago and bought the Vichy Dercos Aminexil Pro Ampulles. They come in a box of 12, you apply them on your scalp every day for 4-6 weeks and ta-daaaa! Problem sorted, new hair growing, happy Mell. Yes, they do come a bit pricey, but are totally worth it. From Vichy they advise to have a maintenance period in which you use the product 2-3 times a week, but I was too lazy to do that this time, but still the result is amazing. I highly recommend them if your hair needs a little bit of a boost! Bonus: the serum smells awesome and does not feel greasy, but rather fresh and cool!
My skin hasn’t been behaving too well recently, so I had to start using something to fix the small spots. At the National Wedding Show they had given us some free products to try and one of them was the Freederm Overnight Clearing Serum. It’s been working very well for me, certainly helps with reducing inflammation and redness overnight and it doesn’t feel heavy or irritating on the skin.
Considering that my spots are probably just because sometimes I’m too tired to properly cleanse my skin, I’ve made it my new mission to try and be a little bit better in that (and let’s face it, I’m a vet, by the end of the day I have had at least 10 dogs trying to lick my face and 15 cats hissing at spitting at it…). After receiving it in a Birchbox, I decided to try the Clinique Take The Day Off Balm and I am very impressed. It removes all my make up and leaves my skin very hydrated (I do have quite dry skin and cleansers sometimes can be a true pain). I currently have this small pot and it’s lasted me a long long time, so I will most likely be purchasing the full-sized version as well!
Yet again, here is some tech in my blog. If you haven’t read my review about the Amazon Echo, you should totally go and do that now, because this fella is pretty much an awesome upgrade of it. Sonos One is a small, but very powerful smart speaker with integrated Amazon Echo, that can really blow your mind with the sound that it can produce! If you appreciate music, definitely have a look at it! The gadget can also be a very good addition to your smart home, as you can connect it to the other devices from the company and…ah, nevermind, I can write way too much about it, so I might have to make a whole other post – let me know if you’d like to know more! Here is the place also to mention the people responsible for this new addition to our family – George and Maria, thank you!
And last but not least – fashion. I guess?
So, a month and a half ago I stepped into a gym for the first time. As many of my friends have reacted – oh, you don’t need to, you’re skinny. Yeah, I guess, but I don’t want to be skinny, I want to be strong and healthy. I won’t be going into details about my health, but I really need to get myself in the best shape I could possibly be. So, here I am, going to the gym 3-4 times weekly, realising I have very weak wrists and my fingers ache a lot when lifting weights (which is pretty much all I do, as I avoid cardio like the plague). Which, well, is not the best thing, when you’re actually a surgeon and you need those hands to actually function properly. And that’s how I ended up picking those gym gloves. They are comfy, affordable and they make all the difference! I really can’t recommend them enough!
Off I go to work out now, I hope you’ve enjoyed this little post! Let me know what your April favourites are!
